"Inspired by the local heritage landscape, Clemens Behr makes pop-up sculptural installations that last the time he needs to take his photo, in architectural landmarks of the Lyon area (Sainte Marie-Lyon secondary school in La Verpillière; the Auditorium, home to the Orchestre National de Lyon; Musée Lugdunum; and the Cité des Étoiles housing estate in Givors). Behr reassembles ancient and Brutalist architecture. Blending reconstruction of the old and destruction of the future, the artist’s ruins probe the fragile utopias of Brutalist architecture, built for eternity on the promise of a better world."
